Mom sent us her gown from Arizona a month ago requesting we make Millie’s christening gown a miniature wedding gown. We made a few adjustments so it would be more appropriate for a baby than for a woman. The ruching was used to create the bodice, the flowers were trimmed down to a smaller size. The flowers mom used in her hair were used on a headband for Millie. The layers were trimmed down to a smaller size. And here’s what mom said when she opened the box:

“The gown was just delivered to my door! I absolutely LOVE it!! It is not exactly what I had envisioned, it’s way better! In my church when a baby is born they are given a blessing at church in front of the entire congregation. In this blessing the child is also “officially” given her name. This gown is what she will be blessed in, and hopefully her daughters. Millie will have three white dresses during her life, her baby blessing dress, her baptism dress (at age 8) and her wedding dress. What a wonderful treasure to be able to have this! Thank you times one hundred. There’s no way I would have been able to do it myself the way you two women worked your magic.

Twin boys! Adorable didn’t come close to describing them! Mom had 2 wedding dresses to work with. From one we took fabric to make the shoes and bibs and from the other their matching christening gowns. The top was tuxedo shirt-like and the bottom was a pleated gown. Mom chose the traditional full brim hats. The shoes are embroidered with the christening date while the bib was embroidered with a cross. We can’t wait to get pictures of them!

Mom came to us with her dream of having her son’s Christening outfit made from her gown with shoes, along with a girl’s gown and a pillow to dream on for her own special day. It was mom’s request to not only have the Christening date put on the bottom of his shoe but also embroidery little crosses on the toes. What a great idea! We also embroidered the wedding date on her pillow as a memento of her own very special day. What a great family, it was such fun to meet them…and especially “grandman” who was thrilled with the girl’s gown. We used the heavily beaded area of mom’s gown as the bodice of the gown. The embroidered train gave us lots to work with for the pillow, vest of the boy’s outfit and bottom of the gown. There was enough plain satin for all the rest.

Susan sent us her gown from California after finding our website and watching our video. Guess we looked “okay”. Ha ha. She said after watching the video she had no problem sending her gown across the country. We had a phone conference to decide what she’d like for her granddaughter after we saw her gown. Here’s what Susan said after receiving her finished creations: “I am pleased to let you know the box arrived. It was a thrill to open it and take out each sweet piece. Everything is lovely. I am so pleased to have found you. I’ve shared the photos you sent and everyone loves what you created. Thank you for being so gracious and easy to work with. I’ll send photos of the christening day. Kind regards, Susan.” Thank you too Susan!!

2014 has begun! This look was created, along with matching shoes with date embroidered on the bottom, an embroidered bib with terry cloth backing and to keep Victoria warm, a curly minky jacket lined with mom’s gown. The gown was designed with ties in the back to ensure a good fit, although when we tried it on her, it fit perfectly! Mom was thrilled that the dress followed the design of her gown. We can’t wait for pics of Victoria from her special day.

It’s not very often we get pictures of “our” little boys in their christening outfit but here’s the cutest little guy modeling his “one of a kind” outfit. Thanks Erin, for letting us publish these pictures!

Pictures of baby Olivia in her “one of a kind” christening creation. Our thanks to mom for sending us pics of her little cutie. There was another family in the church who were impressed by her gown and asked where she got it and mom passed on our information. Thanks Jacqui!
